    • What makes Stern Stewart & Co. different from other consulting firms?

      As an independent consulting boutique, we specialize in two fields: strategy and evaluation, and organization and management. When it comes to finding solutions, we are convinced that an unconventional way is the best. For you, working in a strategy consulting boutique means that you from very early on you will be able to speak with the top economic decision-makers as equals and quickly assume corporate responsibility.

      We do not live the competitive culture of a typical business consultancy, but an entrepreneurial culture with a pronounced human factor. We have no elbowing mentality; for us fairness and trust are the most important things of all. We are successful as a team, are young, sometimes swim against the current, but we are always highly professional. And we are more than consultants: With its Annual Summit, our Stern Stewart Institute specifically promotes discourse between economic pioneers and players. And with our projects in Africa, we would like to contribute to value creation not only on an economic but also on a social level.

      Our clients include DAX 30 companies and large medium-sized enterprises. Our contacts are primarily CEOs, CFOs and the top management from the strategy, controlling and sales ranks.

    • Does Stern Stewart & Co. support continued education such as PhD or MBA? And what training or other continuing education options does Stern Stewart & Co. offer in addition?

      Individual continuing education:
      Our consultants are entrepreneurs, for whom we deliberately create flexibility for their individual continuing education. We therefore make it possible for you after two years with the company to participate in management courses at top business schools or in MBA or Ph.D. programs. We support your leave of absence both professionally and financially in the request approval phase. In addition, we support your personal development: We support project work in the development aid and use of parental leave. After two years on the outside, at Stern Stewart & Co. you rise to an appropriate level.

      On the job training: In the current project work you are sponsored and supported by mentors. This allows you to take on demanding tasks and a high degree of responsibility from the start.


      Professional and personal training:
       In addition to basic training for new employees, level-specific in-house and off-site training sessions with internal and external experts are regularly held.

    • What is the interview day like?

      The Selection includes individual interviews with experienced consultants and a presentation with discussion. We are not only interested in your academic and professional experience, but also in your ability to solve case studies and thus in your analytical and numerical understanding, your creativity and problem solving skills. If you convince us also with your social skills and motivation, you will receive an offer from us. In your decision phase we are happy to support you with further visits to us in our office or with additional interviews.

    • How can I prepare for the presentation? Do I need a laptop for it?

      The presentation is a brief case that you receive directly from us. Thus no preparation in advance is possible. You do not need a laptop to work on the case.

    • Will I have to cover costs during the selection day?

      Of course, you will not have to cover any travel costs. Either we take care of the travel booking for you directly, or you arrange your own travel, and we will reimburse your expenses.

    • I have no degree in economics. Can I still apply to Stern Stewart & Co.?

      Although our candidate selection focus is on graduates in economics (business, economics, industrial engineering, business mathematics, computer science and economics), we also welcome applications from newcomers from other fields. What is important to us is that you bring the tools to be a consultant with you through an in-depth knowledge of economics.

    • How important are soft skills?

      Our clients not only appreciate our excellent methodological skills but also our team-oriented approach. Because in this way we ensure a high level of know-how transfer. A high level of problem solving skills, excellent team spirit and a feeling for corporate cultures and their specific needs are just as important as the technical skills.

    • Is a rejection final? Or can you re-apply at Stern Stewart & Co. at a later date?

      You are welcome to apply again at a later date after a rejection, if in the meantime you have been able to collect relevant experience, for example through internships in consulting companies and / or the industry.
